As the proud owners of this boutique oasis, our hearts are deeply tied to the success of the local coral restoration project here in Playa Ocotal. Today, we are proud to say that our site has become a beacon of hope for marine life in our treasure of a cove, and it's all thanks to the incredible community of volunteers, experts, and partners who continue to care and grow the coral garden.

We continue to work closely with Alianza Mar y Tierra, Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), and CIMAR to create thriving underwater habitats and gardens designed to rejuvenate the local coral reef systems. Keep reading, to see how you can get involved. :)

A Collaborative Effort

Our coral restoration site was developed by a select group of highly trained professionals and volunteers. Among them are instructors, doctors, paramedics, biologists, welders, botanists, and other skilled specialists, all of whom bring unique expertise to the project. With their support, we’ve been able to not only build the necessary structures for coral growth but also create a sustainable environment where marine life can thrive. 

Having had a long time love for this area, avid snorkelers, divers, photographers and environmentalists, we've taken an active role in the coral restoration program by personally participating in the hands-on work of harvesting coral for replanting and installing protective cages to ensure their growth. Beyond the physical efforts, we've also been instrumental in rallying support from other local businesses and donors, fostering a collaborative community effort to protect and rejuvenate the vital coral reefs of Playa Ocotal.

Progress at Our 7 Restoration Sites

Currently, this team has seven active sites, and we’re excited to report that all of them are showing positive signs of regeneration. Coral growth is steadily increasing, and with that, we’re seeing a rise in marine biodiversity. Fish populations and other wildlife have begun to return, using these new habitats to shelter and reproduce. This success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. So exciting, Right!!!!??? :)
