A Sneak Peek at Our Art & Yoga Retreat Itinerary

WATERCOLOR postcards on the beach: we will take a walk down to the beach with paper and watercolors in hand to paint quick pieces of art to commemorate our time in Costa Rica. This is to help you take a mental screenshot of this very moment in time. Each piece of art will be done in a very short amount of time. This is a lesson in letting go of perfection and going with the flow. You can make one or several.

PAPER MACHE from recycled material. We will be getting messy and loosey goosey for the love of imperfection and fun! When the clay dries we will be painting it in bright colors. Our inspiration will be the animals and flowers of Costa Rica. With each comes a story. Which one will inspire you?

PRINT Workshop: We will be using local floral and fauna to create both a textile and/or paper print. This will teach you about the area's botany and marine life while also showing you how to make prints in a very low key way without tons of tools. We will also explore and use the traditional symbols found in Costa Rican art.

DECOUPAGE Shells: Souvenirs are great, but what's better than making your own souvenir ornament pulled from the local beach that your hotel is overlooking? This will be an easy project that honors the ocean and her gifts she brings to us.

SAND KEEPER NECKLACE: This necklace has two parts to it. The first part is to set an intention and meditate on what you will bring back with you from this trip when you collect the sand. The second part is creating a necklace that symbolizes your time at the retreat. It will serve as a reminder of what you envision for your future self while always remaining present.

BEACH MANDALAS: In Costa Rica, the mandala is an important symbol that is painted on the wheels of their ox carts. The tradition represents the unique heritage of each village from the choice of colors to the symbols they choose to represent their family or business. We will collect what nature provides us on the beach to create our own mandalas that reflect who we are and who we leave as we move from this place to next. We will also write notes in the sand to say goodbye, to let go of things we’ve held not to for too long, to make room for the next beautiful thing to come into our lives. This is a lesson on letting go and watching as the beauty we create gets reclaimed by the sea. Everyone will get at least one Polaroid of their work.

MEDITATION & YOGA - with some of our art projects we will be giving out optional meditations to dive even deeper into the depths of the retreat. The Yoga will be a gentle flow/chair yoga and happen at different intervals once a day, accommodating any level of skill.

HIGHLIGHT: "Creating with a Purpose” In addition to daily art workshops, yoga, and meditation sessions, our retreat offers a unique opportunity to draw inspiration from the passionate efforts of our hotel owners in the CORAL RESTORATION program. You'll have the chance to learn about and even witness the ongoing coral restoration happening right in our cove. This connection to the ocean's rejuvenation will enrich your creative process, allowing you to infuse your artwork with the spirit of conservation and renewal. Together, we’ll explore how the beauty of nature and the dedication to its preservation can fuel your creativity and mindfulness.
